The daffodil flower symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings. It became associated with new beginnings (and the coming of spring) because it is one of the first perennials to bloom after the winter’s cold melts away.
Though daffodils, also known as Narcissus, grow in shades of white and orange, they are best known for brightening up the garden with their cheerful yellow hues.
When you were a child, did you sit in the yard with your friends or siblings and stick dandelions under your chin? If your chin glowed yellow, it meant you liked someone. Or… that you really liked butter. Well, across much of the world, this is a practice largely done with buttercup flowers.
Dogwoods are highly popular deciduous trees due to their showing colors. Paired with their average height of 20 feet, dogwoods are an impressive feature in any garden. That is to say, they are not like common flowering trees. During their first year, their stems are often purple or green. Older branches are a mix of gray and reddish bark. Their showy flowers, usually white or pink, aren’t actually flowers. They’re actually bracts – modified leaves that surround much smaller flowers.

Their tall stalks light up gardens in vibrant color until the intense heat of summer or frigid winter.
